Civinomics
Talk and Demonstration:
Village Governance in an Interconnected World: How digital democracy will empower communities to manage themselves
Humanity’s newfound interconnectivity changes the rules of government. The need for large centralized institutions to hold elections and collect tax revenues is gone. So is the need to elect representatives to vote on our behalf in distant capitals. Todd and Manu, co-founders of Civinomics discuss these trends and how they’ve begun implementing an online voting platform to transform their hometown of Santa Cruz, CA.
The infrastructure of government will become software - really, really good software. When this happens, communities around the globe will have the option of governing themselves and becoming democratic simply by utilizing this software. What would Egypt’s revolution look like if the entire population could have voted on the different elements of the new constitution? What will elections in Pakistan be like when an online third party counts the votes? What would Occupy Wallstreet have looked like if the occupiers had shared one set of demands that all of the United States could have voted on? What will international affairs look like when citizens can collaborate without self-interested government entities managing the interactions?
The tools that are available today are in their infancy, but can already be put to use in your community. If anything, we in the free world have a moral requirement to use and develop these methods for others around the world.
We will give an overview of the Gov2.0 space as an evolving faculty of humanity. What are the commonalities of the tools being developed? What remaining technological challenges must be overcome? In the process we will relate our experiences using a platform of our own design, Civinomics, to bring a new spirit of cooperation and problem solving to some of the most contentious issues in the communities of our city and state.

siri shakti
Shakti Healing Technology:
Embodied Earth: Grounding in the Horizontal Spaces
This workshop will invite you to explore your experience of the Earth as and through your body. Embodying the Earth as an element, a source of support, and a presence can give you a place to rest in this era of overstimulation and a pathway to connect to yourself and others. The emphasis will be on accessing the horizontal places in your physical body (such as the soles of your feet, diaphragms, and brain structures) that mirror the shape of the Earth as we stand on her. Visualization, somatization, stillness, movement, and connection with others will be the avenues of exploration. Dancing will be invited from all, live musical accompaniment will be provided, and your voice will be welcomed. Come find deep alignment with the Earth and celebrate her as you!
Siri Shakti finds herself through movement as her embodied expression of the human and the divine-- on the dance floor, in yoga, in relating with nature and others. The path of embodiment of spirit and matter has been a rich banquet for her soul. From this abundance, Siri offers yoga classes, private yoga therapy sessions, and energy healing in support and service. Over the last ten years, she has participated in training in Shadow Yoga, Amrit Yoga, Breath-Centered Yoga and Kundalini Yoga, as well as Embodied Asana yoga therapy, Body-Mind Centering, Reiki and the Harmonyum Healing System. Siri's study and experience of these many paths and traditions has informed and deepened her dance with life.

ERIE (Entheogenic, Research, Integration, and Education)
Workshop: Integration Circle
ERIE integration circles are gatherings where fellow seekers of extraordinary experiences, seek to integrate such transpersonal experiences into their lives by reflecting upon them in hopes of discovering the deeper meaning that these experiences, entheogenic or otherwise, hold for us. The lifelong work of integration can be enhanced and facilitated by working together in a community of peers. This workshop will provide a space for both the sharing of experience and reflection, and also for the discussion of techniques of integration.

- The Entheogenic Research, Integration, and Education group’s mission is to provide a forum for the furtherance of three areas in the entheogenic dialogue: 1) discussing contemporary research and scholarship involving sacred medicine and proposing new horizons and directions for it; 2) creating and holding a safe space in which to share and integrate transpersonal experiences; and 3) envisioning a new educational paradigm in which the ancient wisdom of plant teachers, long held by indigenous cultures, can be reframed to be relevant within a modern, Western context.

...Sacred chocolate elixir drinking and mediation
...Ancient wisdom of past cacao users
...Herbal alchemy pairing with cacao

It all started in 2008, when Jessalynn Rose finished art school, left Minnesota and embarked on an epic journey, flying by the seat of her pants, around the United States. It only took a few months of de-programming for her to realize that she, and everyone else, is just waiting to be activated. After this "ah-ha!" moment, Jessalynn dove into many "new age-esoteric-hippy-yogic" modalities, searching for a way to share her newness. Over and over again, regardless of where the path started, she kept coming back the the mantra, "Let food be thy medicine." Paired with a devotion to chocolate, Jessalynn now uses her activated potential to share the wisdom of cacao. Under the name Living Alchemy; based out of Northern California, Jessalynn sells chocolate locally and offers cacao councils and chocolate-making workshops: an experiential learning environment where One can learn how to create their own chocolate alchemy.

Growing Together
The Science and Mystery of Fruit Trees and Community Healing
What do fruit trees have to do with community healing and peace? What makes a neighborhood “good” or “bad” or liveable or safe etc.? Can we really revolutionize our city with the simple act of planting trees with neighbors? In this talk we'll explore these topics of environmental justice, urban permaculture, and community healing and talk about how these topics are relevant, here, in the East Bay. Participants will get a hands-on intro to plant propagation and will also learn about how to get involved in Growing Together's fruit tree plantings.
Growing Together's mission is to build healthy urban communities through fruit tree plantings, education and youth empowerment. We conduct fruit tree plantings throughout Oakland where students and residents are supported to green their neighborhoods and learn about the food system through planting trees that will benefit the community for decades to come.
Mallika is a gardener, yogi, healthy food enthusiast and food justice activist. She has spent the last few years studying gardening, food systems, and permaculture while working as an activist for farmer's rights and as a community gardener and educator. She asked herself how she could best serve the world and her local community, and planting fruit trees all over the city seemed like the most worthy thing she could do; from that impulse, Growing Together was born.

Anjuli Mahendra: ShaktiCura Healing Lounge
Anjuli Mahendra began Shakticura in 2011 with the intention of bringing together diverse communities of the Bay Area to explore a wide array of healing arts practices. The elements of the name Shakticura come from Sanskit (Shakti) which means “creative divinity” and Spanish(cura) which means “to cure.” Having both Indian and Spanish blood, Anjuli chose this name to both honor her own mixed heritage as well as encourage cross-pollination and non-exclusivity in visioning holistic, healthy living.
Shakticura Healing Lounge is a combination of offerings that focus on healing and attunement for self, partner, community, and finally all living beings. It encourages people to open to their own somatic wisdom by stimulating every sense organ. Each event includes sacred art, medicinal foods/tea/chocolate, sound healing, massage and partner yoga. Participants have the opportunity to receive mini-sessions from some of the most talented healers in the area while also learning practices that they can continue to develop if they so choose. The intention of Shakticura is to not only revitalize all of the participants, but also to help us attune to issues in our culture where we can be of service and support. Shakticura Lounges flourish because of the unique alchemy that all the healers and participants weave together. May we inspire each other to cultivate compassion, creativity, innovation, and equanimity along our life journey.
Anjuli Mahendra is a multi-modality healer, teacher, and founder of Shakticura Healing Lounge. Her private practice, Embodied Resonance includes integrated bodywork, coaching, and workshops that focus on opening the body to it’s highest potential. A common thread throughout her offerings is supporting clients to find their internal wisdom, which organically brings clarity, healing, creativity, and deep connection with Spirit.

NAB's mission is to affect planetary consciousness, nurture spiritual and ecological disciplines, disseminate ancient wisdom, and put forth ways to transmute cultural dissonance and violence into service. We have given voice to many new modalities of living and thinking about our world since the 1960s--ways to interrogate and rediscover diet, healing, mindfulness, psychotherapy, somatic and martial practice, and creativity. Our specific strengths are martial arts, bodywork, history of medicine, homeopathy, archaeo-astronomy, transdimensional realms, Eastern religion, diet and natural foods, live food, fine literature, and quirky aspects of pop culture. We publish widely and diversely, mixing commitments to our niches with broad-based general trade books. Although not our main rubrics, we publish environmental titles; graphic novels and comics; urban literature and detective novels; cookbooks; art books; sports books; and new perspectives in dance, film, and theater.

Bo the Whiskey Yogi
"Shalom Ya'll, I'm Bo the Whiskey Yogi! The omni-sexual penis puppet spanked by outer world thespians! I was born just a teeny tiny cog in a long line of beer cans, hound dogs and junk cars rusting in the backyard. Now I'm taking shots of fire and flirting with comets!"

Big sky papa
Rachel Lyra Hospodar runs a design and production studio called Medium Reality. As Big Sky Papa, she and friends will share sound healing with the Hive.
Medium Reality began as a felting studio and has since become a brand of recycled menswear which has been featured in Altered Couture magazine. Rachel also produced Pandora's Trunk, a series of events part underground warehouse trunk sale and part grand theater performance. In publishing, she acted as technical editor of Reconstructing Clothes for Dummies. As a mixed media collage artist, Rachel has shown her work in nontraditional venues across San Francisco and at Fabric8 urban art gallery. Her twin passions for the arts and the sciences often inform each other in her work, merging organic and data-driven worlds. This merge shows in theme and in execution, as evidenced in the Pants Interface. Rachel is on the board of directors for Noisebridge, is a member of City Art cooperative gallery, and has been involved with Manchester Craftsman's guild.
